A Job Interview Questions - 25/03/2013

Postby showmyiq » Mon Mar 25, 2013 8:45 am

You went on an interview and you were shown the strange equations below:

3+4+9 =123644
5+4+5 = 202036
7+2+5 = 141021
7+7+2 = 491456

The interviewer asked you to analyse the equations.
Imagine you are put in such situation. Can you find something irregular on those rows? Can you find an error?

(*such question is given on a job interview in a company looking for programmers)

I am going to add the complete solution here. Let’s analyse the first row:

3+4+9 = 123644

We can see that 3*4 =12 and 4*9=36, so the first 4 digits from the number from the left are coming from this observations.
If we add the two products we are going to receive 12+36 = 48, and if we subtract 4 from this sum, we are going to receive 48-4=44

Following this observation in the next rows we can see that 5+4+5 = 20 20 (20+20-4 = 36)

7+2+5 = 14 10 (14+10-2=22), but the number written was 141021, so here comes the calculation error!

The puzzle is archived here: The Job Interview Questions

About the new quiz - I think the right answer is 45 as this is the only number, which is not prime

Correct Answer!

Due to technical error, I have published the wrong path for the publishing of the answers. The correct path is:

The Odd One OUT!

I have just fixed it, sorry for the misunderstanding. The puzzle was cracked an hour ago via facebook.

Your answer though, is absolutely correct!
