The theory of probability is applied mathematical discipline, which studies the evaluation for the ability to happen an event.

Formal probability is defined as the function that maps every possible outcome of the experiment a number between 0 and 1.

There are theories that define negative probabilities, but are not very common. Other "exotic" theory is part of the fuzzy mathematics, introduced in 1968, studying the fuzzy events.

Probability theory is a relatively new discipline. It occurs in connection with solving the tasks connected with gambling. One of the first works are of Pierre de Fermat, Huygens, yet Bernoulli in the 17th century. Axiomatic theory is offered only in the 20th century by Kolmogorov.

Very important is the work of the French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal "Triangle of Pascal". In it the author presents a convenient way the method for calculation of probabilities.
