Theory of relativity is a collective term that refers to the special and general theories of relativity of Albert Einstein. Also, the term may refer to Galileo understanding of relativity. The term "theory of relativity" was coined by Max Planck in 1908.

This standard model of physics is based on the merging of the special theory of relativity and Relativistic quantum theory. A quantum theory and general theory of relativity into account and later in quantum gravity.
